Kitty Blankets for Kids
Saturday, February 6th, 2021 1-3 pm
For kids age 11-14, Adult beginners welcome as well
A class for kids learning to use a sewing machine. Basic sewing terms will be covered, as well as forward and back stitching, threading a machine, and beginning sewing techniques. Each child will be able to make 2 kitty quilts that will be donated to the local Humane Society .
For safety purposes, an adult must remain with the child during class. Sewing machines and supplies to make the kitty quilts will be provided.
Cost $25.00 for the 2 hour class, teacher and supplies to use in class. Maximum 3 students for safety and spacing due to pandemic guidelines. A mask is required. Classroom is DOWNstairs -- so please let us know if that will be an issue for you at lancastercreativereuse@gmail.com

SCRAPPY Quilt Top ClassNovember 7th, Saturday 1:00-3:00 PM AND December 5th, Saturday 1:00-3:00PM (downSTAIRS)- no elevator in the new Basement Classroom $25 per person. Class size is limited to 4 in order to offer individual help Buy tickets via www.TicketLeap.com - or at the register! MASK REQUIRED This quilt top is an easy way to use up all those small pieces of fabric that you’ve kept buying, not knowing what to use them to make. The largest “scrap” you will need is 5 “ x 3 ½ “. You can use scraps in one color family (all blues), two color families (purple and green), or a mixture of everything! This is an easy top to make because it is all straight sewing. The pattern is a variation of the Fabric Fusion pattern available for purchase online at several quilting websites. You will need: --A working sewing machine (OR we have some at the store you may borrow if needed) --Basic sewing supplies-scissors, thread, bobbin(s), seam ripper --2 ½ yards white or white on white fabric-please cut 25 1” strips across the width of the fabric before coming to class -- Lots of scraps cut into the following sizes- 3 ½” x 2”, 3 ½ “ x 3”, 3 ½” x 5” at least 35 of each size. Easy way to cut the blocks is to cut a 3 ½” strip of fabric, then cut into smaller sizes. (some pre-cut blocks will be available during class, but no guarantee as to colors) Class is in the new DOWN STAIR basement classroom. Plenty of room for social distancing - with a class size of only 4 people! November 14th, Saturday 1:00pm to 3:pm . AND December 5th, Saturday 1:00pm to 3:00pm Bring your own snacks and drinks - due to safety guidelines, we are not currently supplying food and beverage). Be sure to wear a mask (we can supply). Our LCR staff will guide your kiddos through different art forms and media - all with materials that were donated for creative reuse! We will add in concepts of reduce/reuse/recycle along with creative reuse, and talk about being resourceful with the materials around us. Skill level is beginner - however, we are able to work individually with students throughout the session for novices as well. Age focus will be 4-12, and ALL ages are welcome! These classes will be held on Thursdays, from 5:00pm to 6:00pm (perhaps 5:45pm for fast learners). The classes are in the Basement Studio - DOWNstairs. Parents are welcome to help or to browse the shop during class time. Tickets can be purchased online or at the store, with a Donation of $5 minimum per child, in order to maintain our educational programs.

Lindy and Philip Malin with walk us through how to do copper foiling with glass and nature. Lindy is a skilled artist and educator who has brought her skills to teach classes for IU13, Disability Empowerment Center, Thaddeus Stevens College, The YWCA, American Cancer Society Walk For Life, AC Moore and Joanne's Fabrics. She also creates private events for weddings, animal rescues, church sales and clubs. She has worked for Fire Mountain, selling over 10,000 pieces of antique stained glass, and has been published in Bead Style Magazine and several other magazines.
All materials and tools are provided, although if you have tools you are comfortable with, you
are welcome to bring them. Also, bring along a pair of gloves for tender hands.
Classes are 1 hour – 1 hour 15 min.
Because of limited class size and individual attention, please register early.
